The Government of the United Arab Emirates has allowed residents with expired visas to enter the country without the need to cancel their visa before arrival or at the border.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security announced that foreign residents who are currently outside the country and were unable to return before their visa expired may enter the UAE without the mandatory prior visa cancellation required for its subsequent renewal.
Validity period of the measure:
– from 28 February to 31 March 2026
Important conditions:
• the rule applies across all Emirates
• the rule applies to all types of visas
• it applies only to residents whose visas expired on or after 28 February 2026 (if the visa expiry date was 27 February 2026 or earlier, this relaxation does not apply)
After returning to the country, residents will be able to restore their immigration status in accordance with the standard procedures.
